Let me get one thing perfectly clear: We all get angry.
Do not BS yourself. Do not lie to the one and only person who can heal and manage the reasons why you act in angry ways: YOU.
Anger is natural.
Anger is common.
Anger is human.
Anger is appropriate. (Well… it can be—and we will most certainly discuss that.)
Humans get angry because:
• We think, and
• We feel, then
• We act.
Sometimes those actions manifest as anger—frustration, annoyance, or full-on, pissed-off rage. It is part of being human.
Which also means that you, as a human, can do something about it.
But do you?
Do you want to?
That is the question.
Whether it is nobler to take action to heal your pain and manage your fears…
or to take arms against a sea of troubles and, in the process, alienate everyone you love and lose just about everything you have worked hard to attain.
Anger becomes our go-to response because anger works—or at least, it seems to. Anger is familiar. Anger feels powerful.
Especially when we believe we are under attack or being abandoned.
When we use anger behaviors—whether it’s “grabbing the bull by the horns,” “just doing it,” or “getting ’er done”—we think we are solving problems and getting our needs met. And sometimes… we do.
Until we don’t.
